Frequenly Asked Questions
Why should I use Chamber Cheques for gifts of donations?
Very simple: you’ll help keep more money local by encouraging people to support our local businesses and Chamber members. The program is also more secure than giving cash gifts.
What will it cost me to purchase?
We will charge a nominal standard fee of $0.50 per certificate when purchased to cover our costs. However, we have also incorporated three discounted tiers for bulk purchases.
How does it work?
You come into our office to purchase the certificates in demonimations of $10 or $25. We give you the ceritificates along with a list of participating merchants. You then give the certificates to whomever you choose (or use them yourself) and redeem them for goods and services at any of the businesses on the list.
Where can I redeem Chamber Cheques?
Currently, we have over 60 merchants that are accepting Chamber Cheques. They represent a variety of businesses, ranging from restaurant and retail to services and municipalities. A full list is available above for your review, will be updated as merchants are added, and a reference copy will be provided for each recipient.
Will you be able to get change from the merchants?
We are encouraging businesses to not make change for the certificates as a way to maximize the value to our local economy, as well as make it consistent and fair for all participating merchants. Due to not making change, we have made the certificates in smaller dollar increments per certificate ($10 and $25).
When do Chamber Cheques expire?
In accordance with Arkansas law, Chamber Cheques are valid for a minimum of two years from date of purchase.
Security?
We have built several security measures into the design and preparation process, and have provided merchants a sample for reference with guidelines. We also maintain a database of certificates sold and redeemed.
How will the Chamber make money from this?
It’s not designed to be a major profit-maker for the Chamber, but serve as a self-sufficient program. Instead, this is more of a way to generate publicity for the Chamber and our members while supporting and stimulating the local economy. However, we will recognize a benefit from continued renewals of members and new memberships from businesses that want to participate in the program.
